January 8, 2008 Club Meeting
Written by Jennifer Russell

We met at Wendy's on Gilmer Rd.
The first item we discussed was planning some upcomming events.  We set a date for Saturday in the Park It will be on June 28th.  In the past we held the event in the spring and Summer.  However we decided to hold it only once and instead plan some more events instead.
We came up with two possible events.  The first of which will be VW Cruise to the Zoo.  We were looking for ideas that would help bring in more members from the Tyler area as well and would be fun for all ages.   We set a date for it to be on April 26th.
The second event we began to plann was a club gathering in Gladewater.  We thought it would be a good halfway point between Longview and Tyler and might plann more events to have in the area.  More planning is still needed for this event.

We decided to postpone an event at the Daycare until we have more active members to participate.  We are still throwing around ideas on what we could do for them though.

We also discussed planning ways to boost the club's membership.  More ideas will be discussed next month.

September 13, 2004 Club Meeting

We met at the Butcher Shop and found a group of people having a 40th Birthday party.  After a little talk about the noise we all thought it would be good to go outside for the meeting part of the night.

We let everyone know that we have show posters to give to all the places around town.  The posters did not cost as much this year because we used paper and not card stock.

Discussion of getting a banner in all colors went over good.

A new member said he could ask sign pro about a banner and would let us know the next day.

Sponsors for the T-shirts were good for the night.  We had 2 members bring in several forms.   They thought of a lot of others to ask the next day.  We said we would accept sponsors till Thus. (Sept. 16)

We set a price on the Address books with covers made by Jackie Russell.

The books have a $1.50 value.  We set the price at $5.00 for the show. We gave away 1 that night as a door prize.

We gave an OK to getting more books to use the rest of the fabric that was bought.

Copies for the show need to be made and a member said he would take care of this.

Talked about needing more door prizes for the show.

Amanda was asked again to find the judges for the show.

There is a show coming up in Ft. Worth and we asked about Pre-Registration

Discussed things needed for the show on Oct 16.

Tables

Chairs

Clipboards and pen for judges

Canopies

Bathroom supplies

The bathrooms are taken care of by the baseball league and they will let me (Jackie) have the key a few days before the show. At that time we will need to clean and set it up with supplies.

We might think about moving the monthly meeting place after the next meeting because of the limitations in the area we currently meet in.  Everyone was told to be thinking of a place that might meet out needs.

August 10, 2004 Club Meeting

This was the 2nd time we have met at the butcher shop for the monthly meeting. We hope to keep this place for a lot longer.

We talked about having 3rd place awards this year due to the size of the wood we have for 1st and 2nd. Everyone thought this was a good ideal. We want as many people that come to go home with an award.

I told the group about someone talking to Daniel about having a Porsche class. We decided that it would be good to do at this time for the show. We will make it a VW cousin class. That way it will cover all the others besides Porsches. This year it will be air and water in one class. This will be added to the registration forms.

We talked about a special award for whatever. For example: If someone has a hard lucky story or great story then we have an award on hand. We also decided to have a long distance driven.

Rodney said the nameplates for the awards are less costly if plastic.

We wanted black so it would show up better on the awards.

He has a list of the classes and is to check the prices and get back to us. We wanted the ‘best of’, ‘people choice’, etc. awards to have a bigger nameplate. These awards are on a big piece of wood.

We all voted to have the awards polyurethaned. So now we will have a party to do this.

Show the wood to everyone and talked about how it split when we began to dry it out. Because of this we went to Satterwhite log homes to ask about wood. They did not have any this year. But would keep us in mind for next year. That is what we all need to do. Decide if we will us real wood from a tree next year or just go to the lumberyard.

Need more sponsor for the T-shirt.

Dead line is Sept 14th for sponsor.

We did get Texas Bank & trust as sponsor.
